Cadillac was faced with a staggering dilemma ahead of its first-ever F1 season in 2026.
Cadillac boss Graeme Lowdon discussed the challenge of recruiting staff for their new grand prix racing project, facing a ‘238-to-1′ dilemma due to building the team from scratch with General Motors’ support. The team, having locations in Fishers, Indiana and Silverstone, had to hire all personnel for positions, receiving a staggering 143,265 applications for around 600 roles. Lowdon emphasized the rigorous selection process, shortlisting 9,051 candidates, conducting 6,500 interviews, and eventually hiring over 520 individuals. Despite the daunting task, the team aims to establish a strong foundation early on, focusing on internal development while outsourcing certain components. With ambitions for growth in the US, Cadillac is strategically managing operations between headquarters in Indianapolis and Silverstone to navigate the complexities of building a competitive racing outfit.
