Yuki Tsunoda’s Canadian GP hopes dashed with shocking 10-place grid penalty

Red Bull racer Yuki Tsunoda received a 10-place grid penalty for the Canadian Grand Prix after passing Oscar Piastri under red flag conditions during practice. Piastri triggered the red flags by hitting the ‘wall of champions,’ causing suspension damage. Tsunoda overtook Piastri while he was returning to the pits in his McLaren, citing concerns about debris. Despite Tsunoda’s explanation, the stewards deemed his overtake unsafe due to the speed difference between the cars. Consequently, Tsunoda will start the race in 20th place after initially qualifying 11th, and he has also received two penalty points on his super licence. This incident adds to Tsunoda’s challenging season since joining Red Bull in April, with the Japanese driver only accumulating four points so far.
