Oscar Piastri will start Sunday’s Monaco Grand Prix from seventh on the grid.
Oscar Piastri emphasized the importance of managing the F1 power unit during the Monaco Grand Prix despite the circuit’s limitations on top speed.
He anticipates a traditional Monaco race with few overtakes if all drivers handle the processes effectively.
Monaco’s narrow layout historically leads to minimal on-track passes, attributing to its challenging nature.
While energy management has dictated wheel-to-wheel racing this season, it plays a lesser role in Monaco due to specific circuit characteristics.
Piastri, however, believes that managing the power unit remains crucial, considering factors like pace, throttle time, and braking duration.
Qualifying in seventh place, Piastri faced challenges including a brush with the wall in his first Q3 lap, ultimately acknowledging he lacked the speed to break into the top six.
