Norris explains F1 radio anger that makes him "look like an idiot"
During the Zandvoort race, as rain started, Norris wanted his team to switch to intermediate tires, but McLaren decided to stay out and wait for the rain to pass, along with Mercedes and Williams. As the track got wetter, Norris was angry and questioned the decision to stay out. Eventually, he overruled the call and pitted, but it was too late and he lost any chance of a podium finish. Norris acknowledges that his outbursts make him “look like an idiot” and realizes that his radio messages may not always come across as intended. However, he and the McLaren team understand each other well and are able to move past these moments. Norris is focused on doing his job to the best of his abilities and doesn’t let outside judgments affect him.
