Max Verstappen and Esteban Ocon added another flashpoint to their litany of run-ins during the first part of Formula 1 qualifying at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. It should’ve been investigated, says Josh Suttill
During the first part of Formula 1 qualifying at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, Max Verstappen and Esteban Ocon had a contentious moment. Verstappen overtook Ocon into Turn 1 while they were both on flying laps. The stewards did not investigate this incident. Ocon explained that he felt pressured to pass Verstappen initially because he had to respect the new maximum delta time on prep laps. Ocon had traffic on his first lap and needed a second lap to qualify. Verstappen, on the other hand, did not need the second lap because he was already in a higher position.
