In the IndyCar race at St. Louis, Josef Newgarden needed to finish within 108 points of Alex Palou to stay in contention for the championship. He led the race for 98 laps from his pole position, but Scott Dixon’s alternate pit strategy turned things around. Dixon pitted three times compared to most of his rivals’ five pit stops. In an attempt to regain his track position, Newgarden hit the wall at Turn 2 while trying to pass other cars. His suspension was too damaged to continue, and he finished 25th.…
