Huge drama at the end of a dramatic Formula E Monaco E-Prix, huge controversy deciding the podium.
Nyck de Vries ended his difficult season start on a high note by winning Formula E’s Monaco E-Prix opener, taking Mahindra’s first Gen3 victory.
Starting second, de Vries followed polesitter Dan Ticktum until the halfway point, making a pit stop for Pit Boost on lap 15 to come out as the race leader.
The event was filled with incidents, such as a safety car period caused by a collision between Nick Cassidy and Jake Dennis, resulting in a penalty for Cassidy.
Drama continued with Porsches making contact, Pascal Wehrlein needing repairs, and Oliver Rowland suffering a puncture.
The race saw de Vries and Mitch Evans breaking away at the front due to Pit Boost, with Antonio Felix da Costa and Ticktum’s clash ending in penalization for the latter.
Ticktum’s penalty bumped him down to 12th, granting his teammate Pepe Marti a career-first podium finish in third place.
