Lando Norris was involved in a multi-car collision on the opening lap of the Miami Sprint race after being tagged by Fernando Alonso. The incident also involved Lewis Hamilton and Lance Stroll, resulting in Norris and Stroll retiring from the race. Although Alonso continued, he fell to the back of the field. The stewards decided not to investigate the incident. Max Verstappen, starting from pole position, made a strong start at the front of the field.
