Revving Up: FIA Sets the Scene for High-Stakes F1 Negotiations

The FIA has shared an update following the start of its meetings with F1 and its teams.

The FIA has begun critical discussions with F1, teams, and power unit manufacturers before the Miami Grand Prix, following the postponement of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix.

The focus of the upcoming meetings on April 20 is to address concerns regarding the new F1 regulations that came into effect this year, specifically in qualifying and revised power unit rules.

The recent Oliver Bearman crash at the Japanese Grand Prix has heightened concerns about safety related to the power unit rules, adding urgency to the discussions.

The FIA and technical experts from teams and manufacturers convened for the first of several meetings to discuss potential changes to the 2026 Formula 1 regulations.

Collaborative meetings are planned for the next few weeks, including a Sporting Regulations meeting on April 15 and a high-level meeting on April 20 to consider preferred options jointly proposed by technical teams.

The ultimate goal of these discussions is to ensure that any changes made to the regulations receive approval from the FIA WMSC as part of a collaborative effort with all stakeholders involved in the sport.”
