The American was evaluating whether an Indy 500 project was viable for 2026.
Colton Herta will miss the 2026 Indy 500 due to the Formula 2 season calendar change announced by the FIA.
The cancellation of F2 rounds in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, in light of the ongoing Iran War, led to a new schedule, including racing at the Miami and Canadian GPs in May, conflicting with the Indy 500.
Herta, who was considering running with Andretti at the 500, faces a dilemma as he cannot participate in both the Canadian F2 round and the Indy 500 due to their clash.
The Indy 500 has been rescheduled to start at 10:00 ET on Sunday, May 24th, but Herta’s commitments make it logistically impossible for him to compete, given the time required for travel and preparation for the F2 race in Montreal.
This change results in Colton Herta missing the Indy 500 for the first time since his debut in 2019, as he focuses on his racing commitments in Formula 2.
