Rahal pips McLaughlin, Herta to another pole in Portland
Graham Rahal secured pole position for the BitNile.com Grand Prix of Portland by outperforming the Penske, Andretti, and Ganassi cars. This is Rahal’s second pole position in three races, marking the first time he has achieved multiple poles in a season since 2009. Scott McLaughlin, last year’s polesitter in Portland, narrowly missed out on the pole position, finishing just 0.03s behind Rahal. Title contenders Scott Dixon and Alex Palou qualified fourth and fifth respectively, advancing to the final segment of qualifying. Callum Ilott made an impressive debut, qualifying in eighth place. In Q1 Group 2, Palou set the fastest time, followed closely by McLaughlin, while in Q2, McLaughlin secured the top spot, with Herta and O’Ward following closely behind.
