BMW completes three-day test with M Hybrid V8 Hypercar
BMW M Team WRT completed a three-day test at Spa-Francorchamps with their M Hybrid V8 ahead of the debut of their FIA WEC Hypercar in 2024. The test included five of BMW’s factory drivers, who took turns behind the wheel in mixed conditions. The team used the time to optimize the car’s systems and performance. The team principal, Vincent Vosse, expressed satisfaction with the test and stated the importance of accumulating mileage and doing their homework. BMW M Motorsport head, Andreas Roos, also praised the car’s performance in testing and emphasized the benefits of having drivers familiar with the car testing in both the IMSA series and in Europe. In addition to WRT’s M Hybrid V8, a Porsche Penske-run Hypercar and a camouflaged BMW M4 GT3 EVO were also tested. The GT3 model is set to make its race debut in 2025, and BMW M Motorsport plans to refine it throughout 2023 and 2024 to enhance its functionalities and drivability. Augusto Farfus, Jens Klingmann, and Bruno Spengler were the drivers involved in the M4 GT3 EVO testing.
