Homestead-Miami Speedway was once the host of NASCAR’s championship finale until it moved to Phoenix Raceway in 2020; however, it will return to Homestead for the NASCAR Cup, Xfinity, and Truck Series title-decider in 2026. NASCAR has decided to rotate the championship weekend among various tracks each year to showcase the event in different markets and venues.
Team Penske has dominated the title-decider at Phoenix during the Next Gen era, winning the championship consecutively for three seasons. Phoenix will retain two Cup dates on the 2026 schedule, although it’s uncertain which track it will replace in the Round of 8 playoffs. Homestead-Miami Speedway aims to offer nostalgic and thrilling racing experiences for both veteran drivers and new-generation NASCAR fans.
As this prestigious event returns to its roots in South Florida, fans can anticipate witnessing a blend of seasoned favorites and emerging stars at the 2026 NASCAR Championship Weekend. The history of NASCAR’s championship finale has seen various host tracks over the years, with Homestead holding the title for the longest period before the recent shift to Phoenix. NASCAR has set criteria for potential host tracks starting from 2027, ruling out superspeedways and road courses for the season finale.
