Honda HRC will only have Joan Mir compete in the upcoming Aragon Grand Prix, with none of its three test riders being called up. Luca Marini’s injury from testing at Suzuka will not be replaced, unlike Jorge Martin who will be substituted by Aprilia test rider Lorenzo Savadori. The rules state that if a rider is deemed unfit within nine days before a race, no replacement is required. Honda’s test riders Aleix Espargaro, Takaaki Nakagami, and Stefan Bradl could have filled in for Marini but will not. No plans exist for HRC’s test team, including Espargaro, to attend Monday’s official MotoGP test at Motorland Aragon; the factory riders will participate. Augusto Fernandez will compete as a Yamaha wildcard in Alcaniz, having already substituted for Miguel Oliveira at Pramac in Austin, Qatar, and Jerez. Furthermore, Ai Ogura requires medical clearance from Dr. Angel Charte on Thursday after undergoing knee surgery and further tests on Tuesday.
