Renault Group CEO Luca de Meo surprisingly announced his departure from the Alpine Formula 1 team’s parent company. In a statement released on Sunday, Renault confirmed the 58-year-old Italian’s decision to step down to pursue new challenges. The Renault board accepted his resignation, effective on 15 July after a 30-day notice period, with De Meo continuing in his role until then as his successor is identified. De Meo expressed his belief that his job was done, highlighting the company’s achievements under his leadership and readiness for the future. His departure marks the end of an era where he significantly influenced the strategic direction of Renault’s F1 team, eventually rebranded as Alpine, as the company’s CEO. Despite challenges faced by Alpine in recent seasons, including changes in team leadership and engine partnership, the company remains focused on its future with new leadership and strategic plans in place.
