Lando Norris admitted fault for colliding with McLaren F1 teammate Oscar Piastri in the late stages of the Canadian Grand Prix. In a risky move to overtake Piastri on lap 67, Norris closed a gap, resulting in contact with Piastri’s car and the wall. Despite losing points in the championship battle, Norris apologized over the team radio, taking full responsibility for the incident. Piastri managed to hold onto fourth place despite sustaining damage, with McLaren now planning an immediate debrief. The clash between their drivers has prompted a debate on McLaren’s ‘papaya rules’ to prevent such incidents, as CEO Zak Brown had anticipated. Piastri now leads the 2025 drivers’ championship by 22 points over Norris, setting the stage for further developments in the title race.
