The 2027 technical rules for the World Rally Championship are nearing completion after the FIA approved refined bodywork regulations. Discussions on the regulations took place at the World Motor Sport Council in Macau. Changes to the regulations include requirements for sustainable materials, homologation criteria, and design flexibility for bodywork. The regulations aim to attract more manufacturers by allowing different body types on a common chassis. The 2027 cars will be cost-capped at €345,000 and use Rally2 engines with an open chassis construction. The FIA has ratified the bodywork changes, allowing manufacturers creative freedom within defined parameters. The final details of the regulations are expected by August, with ongoing chassis study and crash tests. Hyundai and M-Sport are still deliberating their participation in building cars for 2027.
