Porsche improving pace relative to IMSA rivals, says Cameron
Two-time IMSA DPi champion Dane Cameron, who spent the last two years racing for Penske’s LMP2 and then Porsche Hypercar squads in the World Endurance Championship, will return to IMSA competition in 2024. He will be swapping places with Australian driver Matt Campbell in a move aimed at maximizing the development of Porsche’s 963 LMDh car in both series. Cameron acknowledges that there is still room for improvement, particularly in terms of reliability in longer races, but is confident that the team is making progress. The team structure has undergone some changes, and having more time to build stability and maturity is crucial. Penske split its running in the recent Daytona manufacturer group test, focusing on endurance running with car #7, while the other car was dedicated to finding added performance and pace. Cameron believes that the team has made significant improvements and is determined to keep pushing forward.
