Palou Dominates Qualifying as Andretti Team Fights Uphill Battle at Indy

Alex Palou secured pole position for the Sonsio Grand Prix in the NTT IndyCar Series at Indianapolis Motor Speedway with an impressive lap time of 1:09.3417s. It was his eighth-career pole and second of the 2025 season, thanks to a fresh set of soft tires giving him an edge.

Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing showcased strong performance with Graham Rahal and rookie Louis Foster securing second and third on the grid. Devlin DeFrancesco also had a solid qualifying session finishing in fifth place.

The team’s success was a morale boost, especially for Rahal, who expressed the importance of the achievement for the entire team. Scott McLaughlin from Team Penske qualified fourth, while Josef Newgarden completed the Fast 6 lineup in sixth position.

Despite fierce competition and continuous shakeups in qualifying, Palou managed to maintain his lead, leaving contenders like Will Power and Pato O’Ward behind in the final round. The Fast 12 session saw surprising eliminations, including Andretti Global drivers, with Christian Lundgaard missing out on advancing by a narrow margin.

The stage is set for an exciting race at the Indianapolis road course, with Palou looking to extend his dominance and competitors like Rahal and McLaughlin aiming to challenge his supremacy.
