F1 chief Domenicali writes to GPDA over Qatar GP concerns
After the race in Qatar, several drivers, including Logan Sargeant and Alex Albon, required medical treatment, and many drivers expressed that it was the toughest race they had ever competed in. The timing of the race, being held earlier in the calendar and in hotter conditions, received a lot of criticism, but it has already been addressed for 2024, with the event moving back to December 1. Stefano Domenicali, the CEO of Formula 1, wrote to the GPDA chairman thanking the drivers for their efforts and explaining that the scheduling for this season was unavoidable. There has been ongoing dialogue between Domenicali and the GPDA about this matter, and feedback will be sent to Formula 1 regarding the situation. Overall, drivers felt that the race should have been avoided due to the risks involved without significant rewards.
