Qualifying for the 2023 São Paulo Grand Prix was delayed by 15 minutes following calls from Pirelli to the FIA
During practice on Friday, both Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso experienced rear-left punctures due to debris on the track, including screws, nails, and loose stones. The majority of the debris was found in the pitlane of the Interlagos circuit. Pirelli, the F1 tyre supplier, called for the FIA to clean the track to prevent further incidents and disadvantage for those affected. Marshalls were seen sweeping the circuit before the session started, causing a delay. Aston Martin’s performance engineer also noted the dirty track during a Thursday track walk and mentioned it to the FIA race director.
