Bearman defended his actions, stating abrupt slowing could be riskier, but the FIA disagreed, citing safety concerns at Monaco. The penalty saw Bearman drop 10 grid places for the Race and receive 2 penalty points. Despite the setback, Bearman remained positive for the weekend, noting improvements in car balance and performance in practice sessions.
