Toyota will commemorate the 40th anniversary of its inaugural factory-supported assault on the Le Mans 24 Hours by showcasing a special livery during this year’s race. The #7 Toyota GR010 HYBRID Le Mans Hypercar, to be piloted by Kamui Kobayashi, Mike Conway, and Nyck de Vries, will sport a color scheme inspired by the marque’s GT-One from the late 1990s. The GT-One, originally named the TS020, was the first Le Mans contender developed at Toyota Gazoo Racing Europe’s Cologne base, which has overseen Toyota’s WEC participation since 2012. The design of the #7 GR010 is reminiscent of the original GT-One’s livery from the inaugural 1998 season. Through this livery, Toyota aims to pay homage to its racing heritage and legacy at Le Mans, with the striking red and white colors reflecting the spirit of the TS020 era. Toyota’s Grand Touring prototype, alongside a rich history of Le Mans endeavors dating back to 1985, symbolizes the evolution and dedication of Toyota in endurance racing.
