Drama and Disappointment: Auer Reflects on Chaotic Race After Collision with Wittmann

After finishing in ninth place in Sunday’s DTM race at the Lausitzring, Lucas Auer’s lead in the championship standings has decreased to six points, with Marco Wittmann being at fault from Auer’s perspective. Auer expressed frustration about the race, stating that Wittmann pushed him off the track, causing damage to his car and impacting his performance for the rest of the race. Despite starting well and passing Wittmann early on, Auer was pushed into the gravel, resulting in suspension and floor damage. The incident was defined as a racing occurrence by the stewards after reviewing footage from Wittmann’s onboard camera, absolving Wittmann of deliberate fault in the crash. Wittmann defended his actions, explaining that both cars were off-line when the contact occurred during a tough battle, leading to no penalties being imposed on him.
