Controversy at the Nurburgring 24 Hours: Threat of Disqualification Looms Over Race Results

Almost two weeks after the Nürburgring 24 Hours, the results of that race are still not final. Technical investigations are focusing on the #84 Lamborghini Huracán of Abt Sportsline.

Abt Sportsline is at risk of losing its second place in the Nürburgring 24 Hours due to a technical inspection, conducted almost two weeks after the race ended.

The #84 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2, driven by Bortolotti, Niederhauser, and Engstler, allegedly showed 20 horsepower above the allowed limits during a dyno test on Tuesday.

The permissible tolerance is 2%, translating to a maximum allowable deviation of 10hp from the estimated 500hp power output of the vehicle.

While no irregularities were found in five other cars from different manufacturers after their checks, the Abt Lamborghini’s fate now rests with the race commissioners.

The technical report has been passed on to the race commissioners for team response, with the final standings pending any revisions.

Any disqualification of the Abt team would allow Walkenhorst Motorsport and Rowe Racing to advance to second and third places, respectively, pending potential appeals by Abt to the German Motorsport Federation.
