Sebastien Buemi regained his podium finish in Formula E at the Jakarta E-Prix after his penalty was overturned by the FIA following contact with Edoardo Mortara’s car.
This decision denied Nico Muller his first podium for Andretti since April 2021.
The FIA confirmed the penalty reversal, citing additional evidence provided by Envision Racing, including telemetry data and footage from Buemi’s car.
A hearing involving both teams, Mortara, and Buemi concluded that no party was primarily at fault for the incident at Turn 13.
Buemi’s podium now moves him to 10th in the championship, with his second podium of the 2024/25 season.
In a separate incident, Nissan’s Oliver Rowland’s penalty appeal was rejected by the FIA after contact with Maximilian Gunther during the same race.
