Historic racer Julian Grimwade tragically lost his life in a crash at a Vintage Sports-Car Club event at Donington Park, marking the second fatal accident in UK motorsport that same day. Grimwade was competing in the Mephistopheles & Lanchester Trophy contest when the accident occurred on the first lap, prompting an immediate red flag. Despite the incident, two more races took place before the remainder of the day’s activities were canceled. Grimwade, known for his participation in a wide range of historic events, including hillclimbs and races at Goodwood, will be remembered by the motorsport community. His passing follows closely after another fatal accident at the Jim Clark Rally, highlighting the risks involved in the sport. In response to these tragedies, Motorsport UK has initiated an investigation, as the racing world mourns the loss of both Grimwade and his fellow competitor Dai Roberts.
