The Max Verstappen to Mercedes links do not appear to be going anywhere.
Former F1 driver Jolyon Palmer is confident that conversations between Max Verstappen and Mercedes will resume regarding a potential partnership. Last year, talks were held amidst Red Bull’s performance struggles, leading to speculation about Verstappen switching teams. However, Verstappen stayed with Red Bull for the 2026 season, while Mercedes started strong with two wins. Red Bull has fallen behind, unable to challenge at the front, making Palmer believe that Verstappen will be interested in joining Mercedes due to their performance advantage. Despite Toto Wolff’s contentment with the current lineup, Palmer suggests that Mercedes should not overlook Verstappen’s interest, especially with the threat of other teams and the opportunity to sign a top driver like Max.
