Guenther Steiner has left the Haas Formula 1 team after leading it since its entry into F1. He was instrumental in the unique setup of Haas F1, with technical alliances with Ferrari and Dallara, allowing them to produce fewer parts. Steiner oversaw Haas’s successful rookie season in 2016 and has experienced highs and lows since then. Ayao Komatsu, the former trackside engineering director, has been appointed as the new team principal. CEO Gene Haas believes that Komatsu’s engineering background is crucial for improving the team’s on-track performances. Haas also announced the appointment of a European-based chief operating officer to manage non-competition matters and departments.
