The Turn 1 incident was investigated by stewards who handed Max Verstappen a five-second time penalty for forcing Charles Leclerc off the track. Christian Horner has revealed why the team did not tell him to let Charles Leclerc back through.
Red Bull decided not to instruct Max Verstappen to let Charles Leclerc back through after their collision at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, as they believed it was within the boundaries of lap 1 racing conditions. Verstappen made a daring move at Turn 1, overtaking Leclerc and forcing both cars off the track. Although it is common for teams to tell their drivers to give up the position in such incidents, Red Bull chose not to do so. Verstappen received a five-second time penalty, which he served at his first pit-stop. Despite being less competitive than Ferrari and facing damage from a collision with George, Verstappen managed to close the gap and win the race.
