The Las Vegas Grand Prix will get underway later today from the Las Vegas Strip Circuit. But what strategy options are available to the drivers as they go in pursuit of a strong result from the 21st round of the season?
Pirelli has stated that a two-stop strategy is likely to be the fastest way for drivers to complete the Las Vegas Grand Prix. They recommend starting the race on the Medium compound and switching to the Hards between lap 10 and 15. Another set of Hards should be used until at least lap 29, with the possibility of using a second set of Mediums for the final stint. If drivers can manage their tyres well in the first stint and bring them to at least lap 18, a one-stop strategy onto the Hard compound is also a viable option. Pirelli advises against using the Soft compound, unless it’s for a late attempt at the fastest lap. Ultimately, the choice of strategy will depend on the impact of graining and the track temperature.
