Max Verstappen is closing in on Ayrton Senna’s consecutive pole positions record after topping qualifying for the 2024 F1 Miami Grand Prix.
Max Verstappen secured his seventh consecutive pole position at the Miami Grand Prix, breaking his career-best record and aiming to match Ayrton Senna’s eight-pole streak at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix. Charles Leclerc pushed Verstappen but settled for second place on the front row. Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz and Red Bull’s Sergio Perez qualified third and fourth respectively. Lando Norris attempted a medium tyre strategy but only managed sixth on the grid. Fernando Alonso struggled and ended up in 15th place after a mistake. Leclerc topped Q2, while Verstappen led Q3 with a quick lap time of 1:27.241. Despite challenges, Verstappen held onto pole position for the Miami Grand Prix.
