The stolen Cadillac Escalade had a parking permit and Bottas’ paddock pass inside. Bottas recounted the moment he realized the car was gone, mentioning the keys were left on the table inside. The thief could have posed as Bottas with the pass to access the F1 race track, but instead, the car was eventually found abandoned. The FBI took part in the investigation as the car was discovered in a high-crime area. Bottas then decided to hire security to guard the Airbnb for the remainder of the weekend, praising the sophistication of the theft operation.
