Racing Bulls issued significant fine for ‘serious’ rule breach

Liam Lawson was summoned to see the F1 stewards shortly after the end of practice in Montreal.

Racing Bulls has been issued a €30,000 fine, with €20,000 suspended for 12 months, for a rule breach in Canada. Liam Lawson’s practice session ended prematurely due to an issue with the car.

An investigation revealed a breach of Article C9.3 of the technical regulations, concerning the clutch disengagement system.

The stewards labeled the issue a “serious matter” as the CDS failed to release the clutch, causing the car to halt.

The system flaw resulted in the practice session being red-flagged, disrupting the event.

Racing Bulls had been previously warned about the CDS design in their cars.

The incident highlighted the need for enhanced training and clarity on protocol for car recovery situations.
