The Mexican suffered another last lap defeat when Charles Leclerc overtook him in the final corners of the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
Sergio Perez joked that Charles Leclerc “got me back” with his final lap overtake at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Despite finishing third, Perez achieved his goal of finishing second in the Drivers’ Championship, contributing to a historic one-two for Red Bull. Leclerc’s daring move caused Perez to fall from the lead to third, allowing Max Verstappen to overtake both of them. Perez believed this was payback for a late move he made in the 2020 Turkish Grand Prix. While Perez had a chance to win the race, he struggled to pull away from Leclerc due to the downforce on his car. Ultimately, Leclerc’s move on the final lap cost Perez second place.
