A minute’s silence was held in honor of Juha Miettinen at the Nurburgring before Sunday’s qualifying race, in the wake of his tragic passing on Saturday. Miettinen, a talented Swedish driver, lost his life in a severe seven-car crash during the initial four-hour qualifying race at the Nordschleife circuit, where he had achieved significant success in the past.
The race was immediately halted after the accident, and it was ultimately canceled following the news of Miettinen’s untimely death. Max Verstappen, a prominent figure in Formula 1, paid his respects to Miettinen, who was well-regarded for his achievements on the track.
It was announced that a moment of silence would be observed for Miettinen on Sunday morning before the qualifying race, a gesture that was universally respected by all participants. Cars on the grid featured tributes to the late 66-year-old, showcasing the solidarity and respect within the racing community.
