Max Verstappen is under contract with Red Bull through 2028. A possible contract extension is not yet under discussion.
Max Verstappen has expressed his reluctance to sign an immediate contract extension, indicating that he wants to assess his future beyond his current deal with Red Bull.
Although contracted to the team until 2028, the four-time world champion has suggested that he might depart from Formula 1 at the end of the season unless regulatory changes are made.
Verstappen has been critical of the new power unit regulations, particularly the 50/50 split between internal combustion and electrical power.
During the Monaco Grand Prix media day, he commended the FIA’s efforts for change but clarified that he won’t rush into a new contract agreement.
While discussions surrounding contracts intensified after Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari deal, Verstappen emphasized that he is in no hurry to commit beyond 2028, highlighting the need for personal consideration before making a decision.
