The Mercedes pair exchanged positions multiple times in the first half of the race, with Antonelli consistently pressuring the more seasoned Russell. Schumacher praised Antonelli’s performance, stating that it was “an epic duel” and admiring the young Italian’s composure and ability to force mistakes from Russell. Schumacher believes that Antonelli, in just his second F1 season, could potentially become the successor to Verstappen as the grid’s top driver, given his impressive control and willingness to learn from errors, suggesting that Antonelli could even surpass Verstappen in the future.
