Red Bull boss Laurent Mekies has pointed out the promising signs the RB22 showed at the Miami Grand Prix in the hands of Max Verstappen.
Laurent Mekies emphasized the significant progress of Red Bull’s RB22 with notably improved qualifying performance at the Miami Grand Prix, indicating a resurgence after a challenging start to the F1 season.
Despite uncertainties about which qualifying performance was more representative, Mekies highlighted the positive developments made during the spring break, comparing the team’s progress with previous races in Suzuka and Shanghai.
He acknowledged the competitive updates from other teams but emphasized the substantial progress made by Red Bull, culminating in a smaller gap to pole position than earlier in the season.
Although Max Verstappen faced setbacks during the sprint qualifying and main event, Mekies remained optimistic about the team’s strong race pace and the potential for podium contention in future races.
While recognizing the need for further improvements, Mekies credited the team in Milton Keynes for the significant step forward and the promising signs shown in Miami.
