Montoya, a former F1 driver, emphasized the importance of respecting the sport and expressed disapproval of Verstappen’s remarks. He suggested imposing severe sanctions on the Dutch driver to discourage disrespectful comments about the sport. Montoya proposed issuing Verstappen with enough penalty points to approach the 12-point suspension threshold, advocating for consequences for negative behavior. Despite currently having three penalty points, additional points could bring Verstappen close to a one-race suspension, prompting a different attitude.
