Christian Horner did not want to take any chances with Daniel Ricciardo during his recovery phase.
Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner believes it was the right decision for Daniel Ricciardo to miss the Qatar Grand Prix and not rush his comeback from injury. Ricciardo injured his left hand in a crash during practice for the Dutch Grand Prix and underwent surgery in Barcelona. Although his recovery was expected to take six weeks, Red Bull decided not to rush his return. Ricciardo participated in a Red Bull show run in Nashville and will make his comeback in Austin for the United States Grand Prix. Horner stated that they wanted to see Ricciardo fully fit and ready for the demanding conditions of the Sprint race weekend in Austin.
