High-Stakes Consequences: GT Driver Stripped of Nordschleife Licence for Violating Rules

The stewards at the Nordschleife took this matter very seriously and opted to strip a driver of his licence to race at the track.

Racing driver Oleksandr Kosohov lost his Nordschleife racing licence for a serious safety violation during the 24 Hours of Nurburgring qualifying session. He was caught speeding at 201 km/h in a double yellow flag zone on April 18th. Nordschleife rules mandate slowing down to 120 km/h when double yellow flags are displayed. In response, officials penalized Kosohov with a 95-second stop-and-go penalty, immediate disqualification, and revocation of his DPN licence. The DPN licence is necessary for racing at Nordschleife. Kosohov cannot participate in future events at the track until further notice. Finally, the second race will commence at 13:00 local time, with Max Verstappen starting fifth alongside Lucas Auer.
