The FIA has met with the Formula 1 grid to discuss what needs changing in the current regulations, ahead of a crucial meeting on April 20.
FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem has issued a statement after discussions with current Formula 1 drivers on the 2026 power unit regulations, which were deemed invaluable.
The new 50/50 power unit split has faced criticism from a majority of the grid, especially regarding issues such as dangerous closing speeds and lift-and-coast requirements in qualifying.
Postponed races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia have opened up a window for further talks and proposals for the Miami race in early May.
Several meetings in April have focused on potential regulation changes, with driver input being a crucial part of the discussions.
On April 20, the FIA will meet with F1 CEOs and team principals to discuss proposed changes before submitting a final proposal to the FIA World Motor Sport Council for approval.
Ben Sulayem emphasized the collaborative nature of the discussions and the focus on safe, fair, and competitive racing, with driver feedback playing a significant role in shaping the regulations.
Safety and the best interests of the sport are paramount in these discussions, with the upcoming meeting aiming to finalize proposals for potential changes to the 2026 Regulations.
