Fernando Alonso committed an uber-rare F1 mistake in Sprint Qualifying for the Canadian GP.
Fernando Alonso considers himself merely a “passenger” in his recent crash during Sprint Qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix. The two-time champion locked up heavily in Montreal’s SQ1, crashing into the Turn 3 barrier without significant damage. Despite the setback, he couldn’t reverse out and lost his SQ2 spot, marking a rare occurrence for his Aston Martin this season. Alonso confessed it was a simple mistake that led to the crash, taking responsibility for locking up the fronts. Admitting the tight margins on the track, he reflected on being too close to the edge. Alonso acknowledged the team’s performance deficit, stating they were aiming for a higher grid position than achieved.
