Grand Prix Uncertainty: F1 Testing Hits Roadblock Amid Middle East Safety Concerns

All Pirelli and F1 personnel are safe but F1 tyre testing in Bahrain has been cancelled after missile strikes.

Due to missile strikes and escalating tensions in the Middle East, the planned two-day F1 tyre test in Bahrain has been called off. Pirelli and F1 personnel in Sakhir are safe in their hotels after recent attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran. Iran retaliated with missile strikes, hitting the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet command centre in Bahrain. Wet-weather testing with Mercedes and McLaren mule cars had been arranged, but the missile attacks led to the cancellation of the test. Pirelli confirmed the abandonment of the test due to security concerns and is working to ensure the safe return of all personnel. The evolving international situation has also impacted Middle Eastern airspace, affecting travel plans for F1 personnel heading to upcoming races in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Australia.
