David Coulthard was left speechless after driving Formula E’s new Gen4 car for the first time, leaving him wanting another go!
Former F1 driver David Coulthard is enthusiastic about driving Formula E’s new Gen4 race car on a “normal track” where he can push it comfortably, aiming for a second chance to do so. He was impressed after completing a few laps before the Monaco E-Prix’s second race, feeling speechless at the car’s performance. The Gen4 experience at Circuit de Monaco followed his demonstration with the Gen3 Evo two years ago, and the differences left the Scottish driver greatly impressed. Gen4 will debut competitively next season with significant upgrades, including permanent four-wheel drive, new body kit, and 600 kW power, accelerating 0-100 km/h in 1.8 seconds, reaching a top speed of 335 km/h. The car’s design and dimensions are closer to traditional single-seaters, promising F2-level speeds in dry conditions and even challenging an F1 car in wet conditions. Coulthard noted in an interview that the Gen4’s performance surpasses the Gen3 Evo, showcasing advancements in aerodynamics and tire performance that significantly enhance the driving experience.
