Leclerc Shines in Monaco as Red Bull Falters: A Grand Prix Preview

Charles Leclerc topped the opening practice session of the Monaco Grand Prix for Ferrari.

The session began with Leclerc causing a yellow flag and the top drivers took turns leading, with Leclerc setting the fastest time of 1:15.060 at the 20-minute mark. Verstappen complained about his tires being “completely dead”, finishing sixth before teammate Hadjar’s crash led to a red flag.

Antonelli briefly held the top spot with a time of 1:14.537 on new medium tires but couldn’t improve after the session resumed. He outpaced his teammate Russell by nearly half a second, who finished fifth, ahead of the McLarens.

Norris managed to recover from a close call to take sixth place, while Piastri finished eighth between Hulkenberg’s Audi cars. Leclerc ended the session on top with Hamilton and Verstappen following closely behind.

The stewards launched investigations into impeding, involving Leclerc and Lawson, who was also noted for crossing a red light leaving the pit-lane. Lawson’s incident seemed a result of the light changing as he passed.
