After a disappointing start to his Formula 1 career, Australian racer Jack Doohan has been replaced at the Alpine F1 team by reserve driver Franco Colapinto, who will race for the French team from the next outing at Imola for at least five rounds. Colapinto, born in Buenos Aires, Argentina on May 27, 2003, started his karting career at the age of 10 in his home country before moving to Europe in 2017. He then made the step up to the F4 Spanish Championship in 2018 and claimed victory in the 2018 Youth Summer Olympics. Colapinto’s racing journey continued with success in the Formula Renault Eurocup and Toyota Racing Series in 2020, before transitioning to sportscars in 2021. In 2022, he joined the F3 series and progressed to F2 the following season, where he showcased his talent by taking two race wins and securing a full-time F1 seat with Williams for the remainder of 2024. Despite a challenging season, Colapinto demonstrated potential and earned a reserve driver role with Alpine for the 2025 season.
