Scandal in Speed: #50 Ferrari Excluded from Le Mans After Wing Controversy

The #50 Ferrari 499P has been disqualified from the 2025 Le Mans 24 Hours due to rear wing technical violations found during post-race scrutineering. The car, driven by Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina, and Nicklas Nielsen, initially finished fourth overall. However, it was discovered that the rear wing support was missing bolts and exceeded the allowed deflection limits.

Ferrari acknowledged the non-compliance with the rules but argued that the missing bolts caused the excessive deflection without providing a performance gain. Despite this, stewards noted the car achieved its highest top speed towards the end of the race, suggesting a performance advantage from reduced drag.

The team noticed the missing bolts late in the race but did not take corrective action, leading to their disqualification. Stewards emphasized the safety risk posed by the incomplete rear wing assembly under high-speed stress.

The disqualification moves the #12 Cadillac (Lynn-Nato-Stevens) to fourth place and affects the #50 crew’s standings in the World Endurance Championship, now trailing the sister #51 car by 48 points. The incident reshapes the competition landscape and highlights the importance of adhering to technical regulations in motorsport competitions.
