Just over a year ago, Brandon Wilkinson was spotting Super Late Models full-time across the Southeast. Now, he is a first-time Cup Series spotter alongside his driver Ryan Preece and crew chief Derrick Finley after dominating the second half of the Cookout Clash on Wednesday night. It doesn’t officially count as a Cup win since the event was a preseason exhibition race, but it was still a meaningful achievement as Cup Series drivers competed. Wilkinson emphasized the significance of the win on a short track where he and Preece honed their skills. The partnership between Preece and Wilkinson was facilitated by longtime spotter Mike Herman Jr., leading to successful communication and strategic decisions during the race. Despite the victory, Wilkinson remains focused on future goals, including seeking redemption at the Daytona 500 and continuing to excel together on short tracks.
